Call for Native American Artists

copper sculptureThe Oneida Nation Arts Program is proud to present the first Unity of Nations Exhibit, "Contemporary Interpretations of Native Arts," at The Art Garage in Green Bay, WI from Sept. 3, 2015 to Sept. 29, 2015. Native American artists are invited to submit works in the juried art competition. Check out the video about The Art Garage.

There are three cash awards for the best works. Artists must be enrolled tribal members of any tribal nation within the United States. Contact Christine for more info or assistance with preparaing photos or registration materials.

The exhibit will showcase Native American Artists interpretations of traditional and contemporary arts. Both two and three dimensional work will be included in the exhibit. Works can be paintings, sculpture, drawings, ceramics, fiber art, mixed media etc. or a contemporary interpretation of traditional mediums. The exhibit will feature the work of Special Guest Artists Mark Fischer (Oneida) and Sam Thomas (Mohawk) along with that of artists selected through the jury process. There is no fee to enter. ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by July 15, 2015bead sculpture

JURY RESULTS: The results of the jury will be emailed on or before: July 30, 2015

ARTISTS RECEPTION: Sept. 4, 2015, from 5:30pm-7:30pm

SHIPPING/DELIVERY OF ARTWORK: Art selected for the exhibit may be hand-delivered or shipped. Cost of shipping to and from the exhibit will be the responsibility of the Artist. Instructions for delivery/shipping will be sent to artists selected for the exhibit. Work will be returned the week following the exhibit closing date.

CASH AWARDS: First Place $500; Second $300; Third Place $200

AWARDS JUROR: The Awards Juror for this competition is Terry Stanley, Artist and Founding Director of Richeson School of Art & Gallery.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists must be of Native American descent and supply their tribal ID or Certificate of Indian Blood with their entry form All work entered must be original in concept and execution. The images submitted must represent the actual work to be delivered to the gallery.

SALES: Work need not be for sale to be eligible for the exhibition Invited artists will receive a consignment agreement. The Art Garage will retain 10% of sales and checks for sold work will be mailed within 30 days after the exhibit closes.


  • Only digital images (.jpg or .tif) will be accepted
  • Image size: 300 dpi image at least 6" (or 1800 px) on the longest side
  • Save the image as a .jpg (image quality 12 or Maximum) or as a .tif on a CD or thumb drive and name it as follows:
    For example, if your name is Joe Bear and the title of your artwork is "Buffalo," you would name your image bearj_buffalo.jpg
  • You may enter from 1 to 5 images and they should all be submitted on the same disc/drive
  • Make sure you mark your disc or thumb drive with your full name
  • Download the Registration Form


  • ____ 1 to 5 images of artwork in .jpg format on a CD/DVD or thumb drive
  • ____ Clearly mark the disc or drive with your name on it
  • ____ Completed Entry Form
  • ____ Copy of Tribal ID or Certificate of Indian Blood
